I laminated my original birth certificate a few years back due to the ageing paper and i recently obtained copies of the birth certificate which have been issued by the authorities laminated are these accepeted by the embassy.

It should say on the back. You should never laminate your important certificates such as birth marriage death and divorce. This rule is true for birth certificates as well especially because birth certificates often have an embossed seal on them. And birth cards at least those from ontario say not to laminate them.
